I was not a dancer, but a gymnast and cheerleader from preschool all the way into college. My appreciation of dance began through my portrait work with high school seniors who were talented in ballet and dance. The elegance, artistry, and athleticism of dance has always inspired me and yielded some of my favorite images. 

In 2023, I had the privilege of meeting Robert "Bob" Lindholm, a fellow photographer and passionate Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep volunteer. Bob lends his talents to many non-profit organizations, including performances of the esteemed Stavna Ballet. He was intrigued at my approach to portrait work and had the idea of an artistic ballet collaboration. In the summer of 2024, we began working with select ballerinas at iconic Richmond venues to showcase their talent. These projects have provided a creative outlet for two shutter-bug friends. 

Bob and I are at very different points in our lives, but this project brings us joy working together and challenges our photography skills. Ballet sessions are available seasonally to dancers at the recommendation of their director. For documentary performance coverage, please get in touch!
