Over 23 years ago, I had my senior portraits taken on the shores and sound side of Duck during our first family vacation to the Outer Banks.  I remember my pictures being so different from my friends since we lived in and around Richmond. I loved the feel to them; the wind in my hair and being barefoot on the beach. That began my love affair with the area and it’s continued to this day.

The Outer Banks of North Carolina mean a lot to my family. Tim and I have spent so much time on these beaches from our dating years, bringing our pups to swim, Noah’s first vacation, to present day “glamping” excursions and vacations with friends. There’s something special about its shores and I know many of my clients have also been captivated by the natural beauty and carefree vibe. We personally love the southern area from Rodanthe to Ocracoke best, but we’re perfectly content anywhere along the Banks!

Last weekend, I invited members of my VIPteam to join me for portraits in Nags Head. We drove through some crazy lightening and thunder on the way and I was scared we would have to reschedule. Luckily, we managed to shoot during a break in the clouds that produced a rainbow later that evening. I worked super fast, but the results are simple, natural and stunning portraits I absolute adore!

HUGE NEWS! What’s even more amazing is that it’s going to happen again next summer! Can we all agree its ridiculously hot and humid around Richmond in the summer months?! Even on the hottest of days, there’s always a beautiful breeze on the beach! The majority of summer sessions will be held in the Outer Banks for those who are already planning! There will still be some summer openings in Richmond/Glen Allen and of course spring and fall sessions will take place locally. I can’t wait to spend my summer on the Banks with y’all!
