I launched my business in 2009 while working as a Registered Nurse and raising my little family. Photography was a childhood and teenage hobby and I had fallen in love with it again and began documenting my own family's milestones. Friends and coworkers started noticing my work and began snowballing into a little side business! This occurred at the same time 12 hour hospital shifts were becoming difficult with my husband's work schedule. In 2011, I took a big leap of faith and left my nursing job to pursue photography full-time. It was the smartest decision I've ever made! I've created a business that supports my family, keeps me booked with amazing clients, and fuels my creative passion. I was recently recognized as one of THE BEST local photographers by the Richmond Times-Dispatch!
I've privately mentored amateur and semi-professional photographers, creative professionals, and new business owners. My experience in building my homemade business has been trial and error, a ton of hard work, and a lot of heart. I'd love to help others learn from my experiences, successes, and yes, failures. I promise to make you feel comfortable in my cozy office while also offering honest encouragement. I possess a high level of expertise in the following areas:
Business Systems and Organization
Preparing and pampering your client
Business and Family
Natural Light Photography and Composition
Mentoring Sessions are held on select Wednesday or Friday afternoons in my Glen Allen office and include 2 hours of open discussion on any of the above small creative business or photography-related topics. The last half hour of the session can include headshots and/or hands-on instruction behind the camera if desired. Facetime or online chat can be utilized for those more than 2 hours away.
