I launched my business in 2009 while working as a Registered Nurse and raising a family. I'd fallen in love with photography again all while 12 hour shifts were becoming increasingly difficult with my husband's work schedule. In 2011, I took a big leap and left my hospital nursing job to be a full time photographer and business owner. It was the smartest decision I've ever made! I've created a business that supports my family, keeps me booked at least 6-8 months in advance, and still allows me to be home with my son!
I've privately mentored new photographers, parents wanting to take better photos, and creative professionals, but have not offered sessions publicly until now! My experience in building my homemade business has been mostly trial and error, a ton of hard work, and a lot of heart. I'd love to help others learn from my experiences, successes, and yes, failures. I promise to make you feel comfortable in my cozy office while also offering honest encouragement. I possess a high level of expertise in the following areas:
Business Systems and Organization
Preparing and pampering your client
Business and Family
Natural Light Photography and Composition
Mentoring Sessions are held on Wednesday or Friday mornings in my Glen Allen office and include 2 hours of open discussion on any of the above small creative business or photography-related topics. Facetime or online chat can be utilized for those more than 2 hours away. The last half hour of the session can include headshots and/or hands-on instruction behind the camera if desired.
