The sticky note. It’s usually a reminder of a to-do list or a task you don’t want to forget. I had the idea of using sticky notes to decorate a backdrop for a session a few years ago after visiting an Aerie store’s dressing room. The bright colors are my style, but I didn’t think of adorning them with positive messages until I saw a recent negative comment on another’s Instagram account. Our teens have it so much harder than I did when I was in high school. Yes, the bullies were there and so was the gossip, but we didn’t have the mask of social media back then.

So in an effort to spread positivity, we decorated a white backdrop with neon sticky notes in our own handwriting and threw a little confetti. Shouldn’t we all learn to throw kindness and positivity around like confetti?! The confetti has been vacuumed and the notes now live on the back of my office door. This shoot was such an uplifting way to spend an afternoon with these seniors. Enjoy!
