Makaela is a senior at Glen Allen High School. She has a a quiet and sweet spirit and loves to help others. At school, Makaela manages the wrestling team. She’s also involved in yearbook, Battle of the Classes, and a member of the Science National Honor Society.
Outside of school, Makaela has received her Girl Scout Gold Award. She’s also been riding horses for the past eight years. Saturdays are her “barn days” and she goes riding at Swift Creek in the mornings. In the evenings she volunteers at the Virginia Equine Welfare Society where she helps rehabilitate rescue horses. This is where she met Sarge, a frantic horse who only she could calm down. Her relationship with Sarge changed her life as he showed her how much rescue horses are able to grow and love if you give them the chance. Makaela hopes to attend college and study psychology after high school.
Naturally, Makaela wanted Sarge to be part of her senior portraits and we were able to visit his new home. These were some of the most emotional photos I’ve captured. Afterwards, we visited the town of Ashland to finish her session as the sun was setting. Makaela, you have a heart of gold and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!
Just look at the way he wrapped himself around her and closed his eyes! Precious!
